Charles River Associates (CRA) Expands Capabilities in Competition/Antitrust and Financial Accounting & Valuation
BOSTON, May 11, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Charles River Associates (NASDAQ: CRAI), a worldwide leader in providing management, economic, and financial consulting services, today announced that Michael A. Salinger has become a senior academic adviser to the Competition/Antitrust Practice based in Boston, and that Jeffrey Matthews has joined the firm as a vice president in the Financial Accounting & Valuation Practice. Mr. Matthews is based in Dallas, Texas and establishes a CRA presence in that market.

Senior Academic Adviser Michael A. Salinger is a professor of economics and an Everett W. Lord Distinguished Faculty Scholar at the Boston University School of Management. From 2005 to 2007, he was Director of the Bureau of Economics at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). He has consulted for private organizations, including law firms, and a variety of worldwide government agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Federal Trade Commission, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. He has published articles on such issues as the structural determinants of market power, the statistical properties of firm growth, and the competitive effects of tying and vertical mergers. He has also served on the editorial boards of the Review of Industrial Organization and the Journal of Industrial Economics. He holds a PhD degree in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA degree in Economics from Yale University.
Financial Accounting & Valuation
Vice President Jeffrey Matthews is both a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner. He has significant experience in financial investigations, forensic accounting, and litigation support. Mr. Matthews has spent many years practicing for Big Four accounting firms, as well as state, local, and federal governmental bodies. He has investigated and provided oversight for investigations of federal and state criminal violations, including many types of fraud. He has calculated damages resulting from breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, diminution of value, and misappropriation of trade secrets. He has twice been voted as an all-star speaker by the Institute of Internal Auditors and he is president of the Dallas Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners. He holds a BBA degree in Accounting from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
