Steven Tenn Joins the Firm from the Federal Trade Commission

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 2015-- Charles River Associates (NASDAQ: CRAI), a worldwide leader in providing economic, financial, and management consulting services, today announced that Steven Tenn has joined the firm as a vice president in the Antitrust & Competition Economics Practice based in Washington, DC. Dr. Tenn’s background includes a 13-year career as an economist at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) where he conducted economic and econometric analyses in merger investigations and other antitrust matters.

While at the FTC, Dr. Tenn was the lead economist in high-profile investigations across many industries, including consumer products, health care, retail, and intermediate goods. His work involved designing and implementing empirical studies to test anticompetitive theories, evaluating efficiency claims, providing litigation support, and formulating settlements. Dr. Tenn received the Francis Walker Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the analysis of complex economic issues confronting the FTC.

Dr. Tenn has conducted research on a variety of competition matters, most recently on the role of potential competition in the generic drug industry and the price effects of hospital mergers. His research has been published in academic journals that include Review of Economics and Statistics, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Health Economics, and Quantitative Marketing and Economics. Dr. Tenn was recognized for his scholarship while at the FTC, receiving the agency’s Outstanding Scholarship Award.

Dr. Tenn holds PhD and MA degrees in Economics from the University of Chicago and a BA degree (with Honors) in Economics from the University of California, San Diego.
